practical<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The park lies in Inglewood, immediately west of the Calgary Zoo on the southeast edge of the inner city. MAX Purple bus rapid transit and local routes stop within an easy walk, the riverside pathway brings cyclists straight in, and a shared lot serves both park and station. The grounds are free, open early morning to late evening. Bow Habitat Station is a separate paid attraction with shorter daytime hours, closed Sundays, Mondays and statutory holidays. Budget two to three hours.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When_to_visit\"><\/span>When to visit<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Spring is loud with returning waterfowl and meltwater in the channels. Summer is fullest: the trout pond opens in mid-May and the poplar canopy shades the trails. Autumn turns the riverine forest gold and empties the boardwalks. Winter locks the marsh into quiet, animal-tracked white \u2014 good for walking and cross-country skiing.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Good_to_know\"><\/span>Good to know<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The land was donated around 1929 by William Pearce (1848\u20131930), the Dominion lands official nicknamed &#8220;Czar of the West,&#8221; who championed prairie irrigation and built a sandstone home here called Bow Bend Shack; it was demolished in 1957. The wetland was reconstructed and opened to visitors in 2004. Harvie Passage, built to tame a weir dating from 1908, was destroyed by the 2013 flood and reopened in 2018.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Visitor_tips\"><\/span>Visitor tips<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Adults need a valid Alberta sportfishing licence to cast in the trout pond.<\/li>\n<li>Check the Discovery Centre&#8217;s hours \u2014 it closes long before the park does.<\/li>\n<li>Stay out of the water at Harvie Passage; those channels are for equipped paddlers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" cost nothing; only the Discovery Centre charges admission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What exactly is Bow Habitat Station?<\/strong> A provincial facility combining the Discovery Centre, the Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery, the trout pond and the interpretive wetland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How long does the wetland loop take?<\/strong> About forty minutes at a slow pace, longer if you stop at every viewing platform.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is it stroller and wheelchair friendly?<\/strong> Largely yes \u2014 the terrain is flat, main paths are firm and washrooms are accessible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can you swim or wade at Harvie Passage?<\/strong> No. It is engineered whitewater with serious drops, meant for experienced paddlers in proper gear.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where does the hatchery&#8217;s name come
